How do you get a job on offshore oil rigs?

I live in ontario,And want to get a job in the oil sand/rigs in alberta?

  • How do i got about accomplishing this,i have been send resumes online to various companies, and looking into h2s alive cert.but do i physically have tolive out their to get a entry level position?

  • Answer:

You do not have to live here to apply but would need to live here to work. Part of the employment process is an interview and the ability to show up at the workplace for the first day of work. This is usually easier for people living nearby. You may have every desire to come to work on the first day but you are not quite as good an employee living out of a suitcase at the bus depot versus someone who has a place to stay and so on. You may be able to get a foot in the door if you find a local job with suppliers of equipment used in the oil fields. Companies receive hundreds of applications there is still high unemployment in Alberta not being mean but what makes your application special from the hundreds of others that are sent in everyday. There are 600 oil companies in Calgary and thousands of supplier companies. Keep up with your education and keep looking.
