Can I use my Commonwealth Bank Debit MasterCard in Malaysia? (the new one)?

Hello guys, I'm currently holding a Commonwealth Bank Debit MasterCard in Malaysia. <image please refers to >http://www.google.com.my/imgres?q=commonwealth+bank+master+debit+card&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=xWOez0snNWMk6M:&imgrefurl=http://www.commbank.com.au/personal/accounts/transaction-accounts/debit-mastercard/&docid=uLAbfPa1p0XzPM&imgurl=http://www.commbank.com.au/images/personal/debit-mastercard.jpg&w=309&h=204&ei=NZWCT_jpDoPYrQetlLD0BQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=197&vpy=163&dur=1301&hovh=163&hovw=247&tx=102&ty=90&sig=117353100521123632627&page=1&tbnh=131&tbnw=201&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:66> Firstly, I'd like to know can I make withdrawal via ATMs in Malaysia? Next, can I use my Master Debit like a normal CreditCard (make payment by giving signature) since it acts like credit card when using online? Of course, if it can be used in Malaysia I do not mind having some extra charges. Hope someone can help me out ASAP. Thank you.

Answer:
Yes , you can use your Mastercard at ATMs that show the Mastercard symbol in Malaysia. However, there will be conversion costs etc with each withdrawal. As for making purchases, it is up to the individual seller whether or not he has the equipment to bill your card. For example , you should be able to use your debit card in a large supermarket, but with a small vendor it would be impossible. Some restaurants will accept this type of card, but it is best to ask before the meal, not after. Enjoy Malaysia. It is a wonderful country.

Your debit card should be acceptable in Malaysia....it will be detected as "valid" if it is so. However, not all establishments accept credit or debit cards. You need to ask first, or look for stickers at the doors or payment counters to see which cards are accepted. As for withdrawing cash from ATMs, look for the "Pay Plus" logo or marking at the ATMs.... Please be informed that international cash withdrawal from ATMs is a service which has to be "activated" by your bank[which issued the card] on request....i.e. there are terms and conditions which you may prefer not to accept...
