How does a headset on a bike work?

Should i ride my 2000$ road bike to work?

  • i just got a felt z5 road bike and im so happy but i think i went over board when i picked it out, i was gonna get me a Trek 7.5 fx "communter bike" for 1000$ but i guess i screwed up and went for a 2000$ road bike with shimano 105 parts. if i could go back in time i would of bought the trek 7.5 fx, but my question is since i got this bike should i take it to work and lock it up with a u lock and cable i bought? 2 different locks i bought for it. thats the whole reason i went to the bike shop to get a bike for work but now im stuck with my felt bike, i dont think i can return it

  • Answer:

Only take it to work if there's a place you can lock it up with 100% certainty it won't be stolen. And I do mean One Hundred Percent!!! As in...can you bring the bike inside & lock it up in a store room or janitor's room? Can you park it next to your desk or work space? If not...I wouldn't chance it. I would still register the bike with the National Bike Registry. http://www.nationalbikeregistry.com/

Keep the $2000 bike for fun rides, especially if you can't bring it in to the office or lock it in a bike locker or secure area. Get a less expensive bike for commuting, it doesn't have to be as fast. You won't regret having two bikes.

tell me were you work and were you will leave the bike and the combination to the lock and I will get back to you

Never, Never leave an expensive valuable bike unattended. A professional thief will get through a cable lock and a U lock in seconds. YES! I DO MEAN SECONDS!!! A cable lock can be cut with a pair of wire cutters or bolt cutters. And a Dremel or similar cut off tool can get through a u lock in approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute flat. I was just listening to WGN in Chicago, and someone had there bike stolen with 4 U locks protecting it. They said that the thief used a cordless angle grinder and was off with the bike in about 3 - 5 minutes. (It sliced through 4 large Kryptonite New York U locks.) And No! passersby's don't tend to ever get involved with bike thieves. Even when the thief is using a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder, with sparks flying of the cutting wheel. (MSNBC covered this on the show what would you do?) Aka... Get a $100.00 beater from Walmart. ^_^

Naaaah---take the cab or bus. Some kid might pee on your bike or maybe a rottweiler will slip his dung under your wheels.....

depends on where you can keep the bike and where you work i;d try it but be sure it doesn;t get stolen wle
