When will USPS deliver my package?

Will USPS deliver a package to my girlfriend's house if her name isn't on the address?

  • I know that since 9-11-01 the postal service has adopted some sort of policy on not delivering packages to addresses that don't have the name of the recipient of the package on the address. If I have a package sent to my girlfriend's house with her name on the package will she get it? The thing is, I'm not sure if she is listed as a resident. Her last name is different from her mom's because her mom remarried. Thanks!

  • Answer:

You can always add a "care of" line. Example: To: My Girlfriend's Name Care of: Name of Mom Address: ...

The post office does not censor who it delivers mail to because it has no way of knowing who actually lives at a given address. Worst case scenario, they will put a yellow pickup tag in the mailbox and she will have to pick it up at the post office.
