How to get on the news?

PLEASE PLEASE HELP! I'm really curious! 10 points BEST ANSWER! How do shows/news get taped so abruptly?

• So, I was wondering, whenever I watch the news, or Ellen or some show that airs with a NEW episode everyday, like a talk show (Ellen for example), I wonder how they prepare for it. Like if the news is changing every day, every second, how do they get all the footage, get all the stories, get the crew out to cover stories in such a short/abrupt amount of time. For example, where I live, there is a news every few hours. there is one at 5 and one at 7. So if something happens at 6, how do they get the story/get the details/ put together a story/get pictures/ get live video/get the crew out there in such a short time. Also-on shows like Ellen, when do they tape it? Cause it comes on at different times all throughout the country. Some places it airs at like 9 am, and some places it airs as late as 4 pm......So exactly WHEN do they tape it. And even if they tape it really early, how do they have time to get all the editing/cutting done. I guess......I just hope you understand my question! thanks!

  The news channels have several roving camera units, there are several freelance camera teams in each large city, Police and government press officers regularly update news organisations with information regarding ongoing and/or breaking news. The information is sent to a central editorial location usually by fast wireless broadband systems where professional editors with access to top of the line equipment and state of the art software package the piece. Shows like Ellen are usually taped the day before the earliest broadcast and edited overnight for transmission the next day.
