How to sanitize shoes?

How tight should men's slip on dress shoes fit ?

  • I recently purchased some very nice Johnston & Murphy shoes which are the nicest pair of shoes I've bought before. Most of the time the shoes I get are lower end leather that are $50-60 at most. My question is how tight men's slip on dress shoes should fit. My right foot is slightly larger than my left foot (right-handed). I tried on both 8.5 and 9 sizes. The 8.5 shoes, the heel fits very tight into the back so there is no gap, but the front of the toes are extremely tight. The 9 shoes, I can stick my finger behind the heel, there's maybe 1/4-1/2" gap in the heel. So it seems my size must be 8.75, lol. I normally wear 9 mens shoes, the slip on shoes I purchased are pointed which makes me think I should be getting a 9 ? How tight should they fit ? My feet are slightly wider than the typical male foot. I'm leery about the whole 'the leather will stretch over time' as I've heard that the shoes should fit right off the bat ? Thanks for the help. (can't imagine being a female and buying pointed pumps)......

  • Answer:

You should get the 9 shoes. The 8.5 size will be extremely uncomfortable if you wear them for too long. Also, because your feet are wider, you're going to need a larger size. Men's slip on dress shoes should be comfortable, though, so whichever feels nicer on your foot. Generally, I buy the bigger size of shoe if they're fit equally well/badly. Good Luck :)
