Iron Deficiency Anemia-Why is my skin burning from being so cold?
-
I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia about a month ago. I have been anemic in the past as well. I have been taking iron supplements religiously but I am still very pale, tired, and have headaches. I hate to be cold! I am always cold, so cold that my skin on my legs are burning from it. It has been in the 80's where I live and people are criticizing me for wearing a coat outside but I literally freeze to the point that I have chills all over. This burn looks like a sunburn but when I get cold I can literally feel my skin burning. What is wrong with me? Has anyone else with iron deficiency anemia experienced similar issues? Thank You for any input!

Answer:
Iron deficiency anemia doesn't give credit to that sort of a feeling, it's probably a misdiagnosis, if the complications aren't serious and don't cause dangerous symptoms then I'd say to wait until you can get another doctor's opinion. There are things you can do to increase the heat your body makes and retains, pajama pants underneath your normal ones is a great method that I use whenever cold outside.. Swap any caffeine/soda you drink for black tea (not green), this will reduce the amount of caffeine your body has to deal with, caffeine reduces blood-flow in your extremities and can make them get very cold. http://quazen.com/recreation/collecting/black-pepper/ The above link is to an article that explains a natural spice that increases overall body temperature, very useful during winter or for special situations like the one you're in.. Eat about 1-3 tsp daily and your body should warm up considerably, but the dosing will have to be trial and error until you find the right amount, everyone's body works differently... Hope the information proves useful to you, and I hope it warms you up some. (On a side note, you should consider hypothyroidism as a possible cause of your constant cold feeling)
