Minimum wage and taxes?

Minimum wage in Kansas after taxes and SS?

  • What is minimum wage in Kansas after taxes and SS? Before taxes it's $7.25. I have an opportunity to either be a babysitter or work as a cashier/stocker at a chain store this summer. I would get paid minimum wage as a stocker. The babysitting job won't pay as well as most. I would get $200 per week for working roughly 32 hours per week. I also have to pay for gas there and back so the babysitting job would end up being around $5.50 an hour. I originally thought this was way too low, but the babysitting would be fun and easy (I know the kids) and minimum wage in Kansas is significantly less than $7.25 per hour once social security and taxes are applied.

  • Answer:

ohjesusfuckkkkingchristalmighty. I WISH OUR SCHOOLS WOULD TEACH THIS STUFF. Minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. That's gross pay, before taxes. There is no such thing as "minimum wage after taxes". You want to know your net pay. That depends on many factors that we don't know, like how many hours per week you work, the withholding rate that you set on your W4, and more.
