How To Find Eps Result?

How do I find/figure out the S&P 500 EPS ($)?

  • I am trying to find the S&P 500 EPS ($) for 9/6/2011 the dates: 10/31/2011 11/30/2011 12/30/2011 1/31/2012 2/29/2012 3/30/2012 I have looked at the Standard and Poor's website for hours and cannot find a spreadsheet with the information and I am not sure how to calculate it on my own. I am also looking for the S&P 500 Dividend ($) for those dates as well. Please help!

  • Answer:

Yeah, I doubt anyone tracks that information. The S&P 500 is made up for 500 different stocks. Earnings Per Share is a fairly meaningless statistic for that index. Even more so, given you have provided a specific list of dates. EPS is announced on different dates for each of the 500 companies. The S&P 500 doesn't pay dividends. If you were given a homework assignment, you should ask your teacher/professor for more information because this question is total nonsense. Tailing P/E Ratio for S&P 500? Show me where on these pages that is indicated: http://www.google.com/finance?q=INDEXSP:.INX http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=%5Egspc S&P500 is an index, not an individual stock.
