you said they replaced the wheel bearings then i bet they took the calipers clean off and got air in the brake lines ! besides as your brake pads wear your master cylinder keeps going down and you have to keep refilling it back up ! no the tie rods and wheel bearings don,t have anything to do with the brakes ! like i said if they removed the calipers they got air in the lines and that,s why you have a low pedal !

Brake issues go beyond brake pads. Brake systems are hydraulic operated. There is brake fluid that is contained in a reservoir. There is a power device that multiplies the force you apply to the brake pedal (not pedel). There are lines to carry this fluid to the brake pads. So all you do is to take this car to a mechanic for a complete system check. Top to bottom it is essential to have the brakes working 100% or you may crash!! Sorry, there is no other way.

They probably disconnected your brake lines when they pulled the caliper off (to get the the wheel bearing), and you driving it and pressing the brake pedal a bunch bled the air to an extent (gave your brake pedal a firmer feel). You should still take the car back to whomever worked on it and have them bleed the brakes to be sure your problem doesn't come back.

only real way to tell is to pull a wheel off and check them.
