What is contemporary music? Is the song "Seasons of Love" from Rent contemporary?

  • I have a audition for a musical and I already found the monologue I need, I just need a song. But there's a catch. The song has have 32-bars and has to be contemporary. I really want songs that most poeple love but I hopefully want to do "Seasons of Love" from the play "Rent". Im auditioning for the musical "13" and I need a song. What is contemporary?
