Are there any good books?

What are some good books for teenagers?

  • I am a teenager and I need some good books to read. I have already read the Hunger Games Harry Potter and Twilight series. I have also already read all of the Pretty Little Liars and Lying Games books. These were all great books that I really enjoyed. I only want to read things for grades 8+. I'm bored and REALLY need a good book. I love series books but also enjoy stand alone books as well. I don't want any vampire books (not that I don't enjoy them just that I've read to many of those) or books like The Clique. Thank you. Sorry I'm so difficult. :D.

  • Answer:

Eragon Fablehaven Percy Jackson My favorite series along with HP, THG, and Twilight

Michael Grant's Gone series: In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. GONE. Except for the young. Teens. Tweens. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no police, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, no phones, no internet, no TV. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what’s happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents–unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers–that grow stronger by the day. It’s a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is brewing. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: on your fifteenth birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

Treasure Island Call of the Wild (Guaranteed to make you cry!) Books by Jules Verne Nicholas Sparks Books by Jane Austen Okay I know you said no vampire books, but the House of Night series is amazing P.C. and Kirsten Cast's take on vampires is new and very original it's honestly a must read (if you haven't already read them though haha)

For serious novels, I've always enjoyed Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and you may like Anthem by Ayn Rand. For imagination reading the discworld series, by terry Prachett, is AMAZING, plus there are millions of them!!

Break away from your current reading habits and read some of the classics. The Time Machine, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Moby Dick, War and Peace, 1984, anything by Shakespeare, etc... There is a reason that they call these books classics. I would give them a try if I were you. ( btw The "these are not for teenagers argument doesn't work with me. I started reading these kinds of books when I was 13. I'm sure that, however old you are, you will enjoy them.)

Douglas Adams is the writer for you. I highly recommend "Last Chance To See" which is a non-fiction account of his travels to see endangered animals in their natural habitats. The tales are touching and a bit humorous and all true. If you like that one, try his biggest seller "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy." It is a very funny book that was turned into a so-so movie a few years back.
