What has more effect on the lattice energy.. Ionic radius or charge or ions?
-
Would really appreciate if someone could help me with this. Incredibly confused about this topic in general. I understand the bigger the radius then less energy needed to break the bond so a smaller lattice enthalpy. And the more highly charged ions means a bigger lattice enthalpy? or not? and which has more significance? all a bit confusing. Please help, thanks.

Answer:
Z1Z2/(r1+r1) sometimes the tie breaker is the multilple charge and sometimes it is the radius - you have to look at each case
