The fundamental frequency of a A-string on a mandolin is 110 Hz. If the length of the string is 0.25 m, what is the speed of the waves on the string?

55m/s. Wavelength*frequency=speed of the wave. When both ends of the standing wave are nodes, as they are here, the fundamental is half the wavelength, so the wavelength is .5m. .5*110=55
