Help with a math word problem!!!?

  • I need help with this word problem, i already did i just want other peoples opinion.. Geometry: The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 3 feet. If one leg is 1 foot, find the degree measure of each angle. After doing it i got the fallowing A=18.4, B=71.6, C=90 a=3, b=1, c=3

    Just by looking at your answer, I can say that it is not correct because the right traingle can not have two hypotenuses (a = 3 and c = 3) Let say ABC is a right triangle with ∠A = 90 degree so a = hypotenuse = 3 ft. Let b is the given leg = 1 ft. So you need to find c, ∠B, and ∠C By Pythagorean theorem a² = b² + c² c = √(a² - b²) c = √(3² - 1) c = 2√2 leg b is opposite to ∠B so sin(B) = b/a sin(B) = 1/3 B = arcsin(1/3) = 19.5 degree ∠C = 90 - ∠B ∠C = 70.5 degree

In a right triangle you have the following relation h²=c²+c², therefore you can do this 3²=1²+c² <=> c²=2² <=> c=2 Hope this helps
