What do I include in a resume when I've never had a job?

Should I include my resume even if the job posting doesn't specifcally say to?

  • I am applying for a teaching position and the job posting says to include my transcripts, certification, and letters of recommendation. It does not say to include a resume, but almost all of the other jobs I've applied to have indicated that a resume should be included. I don't want to come off as not following directions, but I also want to give the employer a better look at my qualifications through my resume. Should I adhere to just what the job posting is asking, or go ahead and include my resume?

  • Answer:

Add your resume. Your resume secures you an interview; the interview secures the job.

Include your resume, it is a professional practice to do so. I believe they would be looking for people who do. Resumes include valuable information. Just keep in mind, it is best to include a resume along with job applications even though they don't require it. Yes, of course include your resume. Remember in business, always give them more than they ask for.
