How many previous jobs do you have on your resume?

In preparing a resume, how can I write in that I ran my own food business off an on while I had other jobs?

• I am trying to prepare a resume for a dear friend. She really wants to work for a grocery store deli or in the food industry in some way. I have been online to help her apply but she needs a proper resume. unfortunetly her official work experiance has been in jobs like taking care of children and working in motels as a maid. Between jobs she has run a small business, perparing and delivering meals to business on request. I know she is a great cook, very sanitary and wonderful and perparing food for others. The trouble is, I do not know how to write in her food preparing experiance among her other jobs. Should it at the top of the resume and list the other jobs below it? Should I put in on the resume using the dates she did it the most often? I am afraid if I just add it in as one of her past jobs, it will go unnoticed as her most recent job, working at a hotel, will be on top. All advice welcome...thanks

  I would list it on top. Something like Independent Catering (start date) - present. Then bullet points that best sell her skills to the desired job. She can discuss the details of particular jobs on an interview. Although her other jobs are not directly related to food, they do convey she has experience dealing with people and the service industry.
