Which test should i take - ielts or toefl?

Can I still take NCLEX-RN even if I didn't took my local board?? Please help!!?

  • I'm an immigrant and now residing in Texas, I already have my green card and SSN. I finished my nursing education in the Philippines, but I didn't took the local nursing board. I'm so confused if it's a must to have a license from my previous country for me to be eligible to take NCLEX? and also, I would like to know if I still need to take any english proficiency test (TOEFL or IELTS) or CGFNS even if my education was done in english language (all instructions and all textbooks were done in english form)? Please help me. Thanks! :)

  • Answer:

Check with the Texas BON but yeah you usually need to have a local license in order to write the NC LEX.Yes you would still need to do English proficiency test as well.

You do need to contact the Texas state board of nursing to ask them what you need to do. It's possible they may be able to evalulate your education / transcripts and may grant you permission to sit for NCLEX, and if English is your second language you will be expected to pass a language exam as well, I don't believe that exceptions are made if your education was provided in English only, but the board can answer these questions for you.
