Are a c.n.a. and a medical assistant the same thing?

Medical Assistant or Nurse?

  • I just finished high school and I'm trying to decide if I should go into Nursing or be a Medical Assistant? Both sound really cool. MA sounds a little better because it sounds like you do more lab work and can switch to office work, but I read that it pays way less than nursing and it's harder to find a job in it. And if I choose to do MA I don't want to waste money on getting my CNA. My original plan when I didn't know about MA was I would get my CNA now so I would have a little experience when I started college.. I also read that a lot of MAs eventually went back to school to be in nursing.. So I just would like more information on these careers and what I should start doing with my life! The last thing I want to do is waste time, money, and effort. Thanks (:

Nursing is probably better. You have more responsibility and you are a professional as compared to a MA. If you like stress, anatomy and hardcore academics do nursing. Nursing makes more but its a lot more work. MA is pretty easy. But MA is not a safe job. nursing is safe. Good luck.
