Training to be a Paralegal Assistant.

Beauty school or medical assistant training?

• I'm going to beauty school or becoming a medical assistant. I'm putting college on hold, so that I can go to a trade school and start working, because of some family problems, so I have two questions, if anyone knows the answers...Which one pays better and has a higher demand, a hair dresser or medical assistant? How many months of training do they both require?

  It all depends on where you live and what trade school your talking about. I have my associates degree in medical assisting from Vatterott Community College, and I am currently working as a phlepbotomist and looking for additional schooling meanwhile paying back 30,000 dollars in college tuition for a associates degree that I can not use. I know that in Missouri there is not a demand for medical assistants...at all. Everyone wants RN's and LPNs. From what I understand medical assisting is more common on the west coast. My schooling was a 90 week program but i've seen them as short as 70 weeks. As far as beauty school i don't think they are quite as long. My sister is a stylest and she makes very good money but it's all about how much you put into it, she had a hard time getting started and getting regular customers but once she did it only got better. I can't tell you which one to choose but i can tell you that before you choose make sure the school has transferable credits, and that not only the school but the program you pick is accredited. Ask other students that have graduated from there how they liked it and would the recommend it. Good luck!
