I applied at Apple and had my first interview. What's next.

Apple store job interview, tips?

  • Anyone ever worked for Apple? I got a job interview with them coming up and I need some tips. It's an hiring event. I've been to a recruitment open day which was just a group interview. Will they do a similar thing? What sorts of things are they specifically looking for in an employee that I should highlight about myself. Also, is this how they normally recruit? Normally I'm sent a letter or get a phone call so I'm a bit dubious about it as it was through two emails. The first said I was being considered for a role I applied for and that I will be contacted shortly. The second was an invitation to the hiring event. I received one of these emails back in 2007 when I applied for a job then but I was already employed and I thought it was fake anyway. They haven't asked for any personal details but it does say I have to RSVP using my apple I.D which I haven't done yet

  • Answer:

I got invited to one of those events via email, too, and was asked to RSVP via email. I did, but I didn't go. One of the reasons I didn't go was because I did an internet search on the hiring event and I found these blogs that detailed what goes on there and what they feel like Apple is looking for in an employee. From the description of the image they want, I didn't think they'd hire me, first of all. Second, I'd read they make everyone start out in customer service for garbage pay when I have near Genius-level knowledge and was making way more at the job I had at the time. Third, I'd been told that they never hire people from where I was working at the time, and I think that partially has something to do with the "image" they want. Just do an internet search on it and read what people wrote. It seemed weird to me and not worth it, especially for the pay. It's definitely not a typical job interview, or really an interview at all. Seems like you have to look the right way and figure out how to stand out in order to move on in the process.
