Why does the PS3 lag so much?

Why do I lag so much when I play online on my PS3?

• It started happening about 3 months ago. It was perfect I never had any lag whatsoever but now I can't even finish a game in Battlefield 3 or any Call of Duty because I end up lagging out, heck, even LittleBigPlanet 2 lags like crazy when I play it. It's really annoying and whenever I check my signal strength it's always above 80%. Is it just that I have really slow internet or is it the router?This never used to happen. By the way I have a linksys router and my PS3 is connected to it via Wi-Fi.

  you can always try restarting your modem and router every so often, that's what i do. also, you can look into getting a wired connection because that will for sure lessen the lag, as wifi connections aren't as strong as wired. another thing, go to settings>network settings>internet connection test and it will give you a little report on your connection, with that information you can see maybe how to improve the lag. happy gaming
