How to find contacts to network with?

Can two people on facebook with fewer than two contacts find and befriend each other?

• Recently my girlfriend de-activated her facebook account and told me that when she re-activates it she intends to end our relationship. I am still clinging to the possibility she will change her mind, but I am highly doubtful she will. In the meantime I have not seen her and she has not replied to my emails in three days so I assuming she wants to break contact with me. I have checked with other "puppet" facebook accounts of mine that she is unaware of and she is not searchable using her handle, so she has not blocked my primary account. Verifying that she has deactivated/deleted and not simply "blocked" my primary account. I am also highly doubtful she would've deleted her account as it had all her school contacts on it and she assured me it was in fact deactivated. Anyway this got me wondering, I am still listed as "in a relationship" but it doesn't give a name for anyone and the field where you look up contacts to be in a relationship is blank. I was wondering if she restored her account would it restore her name as the person I was "in a relationship" with automatically, even though it is now completely blank (not even a de-linked name)? In my attempts to figure this out I wanted to utilise two of my other facebook accounts to be in a relationship with each other while deactivating one to simulate the circumstance which is occurring on my primary account. The problem is even after I have specified in my privacy settings that the email of each account is searchable and can be looked up by "everyone" I am unable to find either account whilst logged on to each one. This is odd because I am able to find both of them with my primary account which has over 500 contacts using the registered email of each account. I have generated a username handle for one of the accounts to see if I could look up publicly the account without being logged on. I was able to do so, but when I logged on to the other account with only one contact it gave me "the page you requested was not found". Has facebook employed measures to combat people setting up multiple accounts? What happens if two people decide to join facebook at the same time and don't know anyone else on it? Would they be able to find each other if they were not contacts already (ie. on yahoo/hotmail/msn/any "find friends" network) Because through my experimentation it seems they wouldn't be able to. I have set up both accounts with profile pictures, wall posts, at least one friend and location (as well as one with a username/handle)

  With proper privacy settings, you should be able to just give one of the two accounts a url, i.e. facebook.com/mypuppetaccount and then log in as the other, type in that url, and send the friend request. if nothing appears, then you have not set up the proper privacy settings. on a side note, if your 'girlfriend' deleted you as a friend and had proper privacy settings, you would be unable to find her account by searching. If, however, you have mutual friends, you can easily check to see if her account still exists by searching her name in your mutual friends' friends list. If it doesn't show up, then she has deactivated/deleted her account (or removed that friend as well). cheers!
