Why can't I bid on eBay?

If you are outbid on ebay can you increase your maximum bid?

• So I'm bidding for something on ebay it's got 6 days left, I've never used it before! Anyway I've just put a maximum bid of like a penny more than minimum because I didn't want to pay loads of money for something that no one else is going to bid on. But if they do, and I'm outbid before the end cant I just increase my maximum bid? I don't really understand much about bidding in general so any advise would be great! Thank you :)

  yes you can out bid the person but not after the auction is over if no one has this item on there ''watch list'' you are safe however... you could put a million dolors but if no one else attempted to bid on a item of two dollars then you would get it for five cents more then the innital last bid or starting bid so if no one bids you get the item for $2.05 but if someone bid $2.25 you get the item for $2.30 sorry if i aconfusingng you with some of the terms but all i am saying is as long as no one else wants the item bid as much as you want.
