How to maintain fresh and radiant skin all day?

Do you still keep your tan after skin peels from bad sunburn?

  • I just got off of a cruise and got "sun poisoning" because I didn't apply sunscreen when I was tanning on the boat deck for 4 hours (bad move, I already know). Looked like a tomato, was vomiting, had chills/fever, etc. I literally could not move my legs/walk for a couple days as all the moisture had been soaked up and the skin was very tight. My legs are the worst but my chest and face have started to peel. I'm sure then that my legs will at any time. My question is does your skin still maintain it's tan after the skin peels from the sunburn? I have started to see small areas peel and the skin underneath looks a bit lighter. I just figure if I (accidentally) put myself through all this torture and suffering then I better at least gain a nice tan from it. Usually in the past I'd get a minor burn and then tan but my skin would never peel. I'm fair/light skinned but I tan easily. And yes I have been applying aloe and lotion like crazy since day 1 of the burn. I've gone through an entire bottle of aloe lotion in 1 week and now onto cocoa butter.

  • Answer:

Yes, you will still have your tan, but not as much as before. Just make sure to keep up with the aloe and cocoa butter and you should be okay. Try to avoid tanning for a while and makre sure to put sunscreen on.

No, and yes. It will last a little bit but not as long as it would it you tanned over a longer period of time. It will fade fast. Honestly, with that bad a bun your skin will go from red to peeling and will be red raw for awhile. By the time you would have a tan, the tan will be fading. Take lukewarm baths and put a cup of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar in the water - the vinegar offers protection to your skin from a bad sunburn and may help avoid peeling skin.

Yes, your skin will be a darker shade than your natural tone. The reason it looks lighter is because sunburns are a different color/shade (you don't get a red tan after all). And depending on the severity of your sunburn the darker/lighter the color it will be.
