Where Do I Add Keywords I Want To Rank For?

I've got a website i have had up and running for the past 6 months and now i'm looking in to SEO for it, i've got the keywords I want to rank for but was just wondering where I put them I think I put them in the keywords tag next to the description tag and the title tag but just need someone to confirm this for me and also if I put different keywords on different pages does this mean the other pages will rank for them keywords also? Social Media has so many benefits now and is playing a huge part in SEO. Been looking at this ourselves but there is so much information it is kinda awkward to know where to start.
