What is the cause of lower abdominal pain?

What is the cause of lower right abdominal pain?

  • Three days ago I woke up feeling a pain in my lower right abdominal region. The pain is not excruciating, so I'm not thinking much of it. Although, because it's been going for a while now, it's starting to get a bit annoying. I've had some diarrhea, but other than that my digestive track has been normal. A few other symptoms are that it hurts more when I sneeze or walk/move around. Does anyone know what can cause this?

  • Answer:

Since you say the pain is not excruciating, it's probably not appendicitis. However, if it does become excruciatingly painful and intense, I would seek medical attention immediately! You don't want to mess around with a ruptured appendix, it could be life threatening. I think your pain could be one of two things: Irritable bowel syndrome, since you did mention some diarrhea. Or possibly a pulled muscle, since you experience more pain during movement like sneezing and walking. You can google irritable bowel syndrome and get tons of information on it. As for a pulled muscle, I would sustain from activities that put a lot of strain on that muscle group until it has some time to heal. Some muscles, depending on the injury, can take up to three weeks to fully heal.

It also could be an irritated appendix, IMHO. It's not a real appendicitis, rather its pale shade, so to speak, and not nearly as dangerous. But it is a pain, literally.
