How to remove infected ingrown toenail?

I have an ingrown toenail Im certain that it is infected, what shall I do?

  • Well because I have had to wear an aircast walking boot for an ankke injury I have an ingrown toenail (well atleast Im pretty sure that it is an ingrown.toenail anyway). Whatever it is I know that it is definately infected, it is swollen, draining pus and is very red, the redness has moved up my toe and I think it is moving up further still. It is very very painful and is definately worse than some of the others I have had. I the last couple of months I have had about 3 ingrown toenails the last one was also infected I think however I managed to get those out myself. Thee reason I am unsure if it is an ingrown toenail is it is halfway down my nail not at the end however I beleive this is because I have cut out so many other ingrown toenails the edge of my nail is so rounded. Anyway do I really need to see a doctor as I would rather not but self care really isnt working?? Thank you in advance

  • Answer:

If self care is not working get assessed by a doctor you may need antibiotics or a lancing
