How To Become Vegetarian?

How to slowly become vegetarian??

  • so yesterday was my first day trying to become vegetarian, i was planning to to try it out for a week and then progress over time. i was doing okay, at school i ate a salad, chips and a cookie. but later that day i went to my aunts house and i got tempted to eat chicken, and i did (it was so freaking good!) now i hear some people just give up red meat when they begin to become vegetarian, and they only eat chicken until they feel ready to give up chicken. idk what to do, my family are big meat eaters. what do you do when you go to eat at a restaurants? any suggestions?

  • Answer:

You could try eating meat every others day then each week take out a day and then try to get to zero day.you can try not eating meats that are red meats then next week try not eating other kinds of meats then try to get to zero kinds of meat.you can try to use fack meats that are really made of veggies some are made to tast like meat.you can try just not eating meat but that sound hard for you but you will get there.you can try tofu. Hope I helped and good luck :)

Most restaurants have a veggie option. switching from a traditional western diet to vegetarian can be tough. you need to make sure youre getting enough fats, proteins, and vitamins / minerals (iron in particular). One good food is nuts.. cashews are my favorite, they can be a vegetarian staple. Avocado is also good, packed with good fats. IMHO theres no point eating vegetarian if youre gonna eat junk... if you go veggie for health reasons, then eating a cookie just undoes any benefit you get. So a better option would be a diet like the caveman diet / primal blueprint, but youd need to modify it to reduce the meat. maybe use seafood if youre not opposed? Anyhow ,good luck!

first ask your parents to teach you the art of food shopping and the art of food cooking.it's a good idea to slowly convert to vegetarianism since it's a change of lifestyle and the fact that you live in a household of meat lovers.please share the following information with your family. for information on vegetarian and vegan options at fast food restaurants go to http://www.vegetarian-restaurants.net/OtherInfo/FastFoodRest.htm and also try http://www.vegetarian-restaurants.net/International.htm the updated vegetarian times has recipes such as: breakfast recipes at http://www.vegetariantimes.com/search/breakfast lunch recipes at http://www.vegetariantimes.com/search/lunch dinner recipes at http://www.vegetariantimes.com/search/dinner pizza recipes at http://www.vegetariantimes.com/search/pizza fruit recipes at http://www.vegetariantimes.com/search/fruit tofu recipes at http://www.vegetariantimes.com/search/tofu and recipes with vegetable greens at http://www.vegetariantimes.com/search/greens

First you should give up eating meats you don't like, then give up the meats that are okay. Then you could give up your favorite meats. The other option is that you try for a clean break and give all meats up at once. It's quite hard because you can have some cravings. If you are having problems with getting tempted try to think about the reasons why you became a vegetarian. When eating at restaurants they normally say whether a dish is suitable for vegetarians or not. If they don't, just ask. If you're at meat buffet ask for the vegetarian menu or just stick to the salad bar. Good luck!

I just stopped, you have to have the self control. There are veggie burger, fake chiken and beef, and foturkey, along with tofo. You can buy them all a stater brothers. But if yiu want to stop give up beef, then, pork, then all the other meats, then fish

I never understand the tactic of giving up one KIND of meat at a time. Most of the time it means people still eat meat every single day, they only have less variation in their diet. If you want to do it slowly, I would suggest starting with meatless Monday, then the next week have meatless Monday AND meatless Thursday and so on. Personally I found it easiest to just stop eating meat. What you can do to transition is make sure you know from day one what to REPLACE meat with. For instance today: after having only a salad, chips and a cookie today, it's no wonder you had a craving for something more substantial. And there the chicken was, all substantial and available. No wonder you caved. So find vegetarian foods that are more substantial than salad and eat those. Then you'll be able to pass on the chicken much more easily. What I do when I go to restaurants: choose the vegetarian option. It's EXTREMELY rare for a restaurant not to have at least one of those. It may not always be the most creative dish on the menu, but it's almost always there. And the few times I came across a restaurant that didn't have a vegetarian option, the chef was more than happy to vegetarianize some of the dishes for me after asking me exactly what I do and do not eat. It's amazing how willing to accommodate restaurants can be if you just ask politely. After all, they know that if they don't accommodate you, you AND the rest of your party are likely to leave and never come back. And tell other people about your bad experience, so even more people stay away. That's bad for business.

Clara is right on point. I slowly gave up everything and it took about 2 months before I went full vegetarian. Also, whenever you go grocery shopping, bring a pad and paper to write down which foods, vitamins, condiments, you can FOR SURE get that has no animal products in it. After a while, you just memorize the things you can and cannot eat. And honestly, there is nothing wrong with eating chicken once a month or so. Eating ANY less meat is great!! I eat chicken maybe once a month, but only if someone else is paying for my meal and the vegetarian options suck (aka...it's fish, which i don't like, or salad). However, I never cook myself chicken...but I don't want to be rude if someone is paying for my meal and then I get a salad. Also, invest in some vegetarian cookbooks! You can get a bunch of good ones for under $10. Good luck :)
