Movement activities for preeschoolers?

• i need an activity involving movement for a preeschool class held at my school. it should be about 10-15 minutes long and needs to somehow involve 10-12 kids, and some kind of theme would be helpful. any ideas? thanksss

  We play a version of musical chairs that the kids absolutely love. We put out enough chairs for every child plus a few extras for teachers. The chairs are randomly placed around the room in no particular place and facing in no particular direction. When the music starts the children are to move in a designated way, such as jumping, floating, tip toeing, marching, etc. The teacher starts the activity by naming a movement and everyone must move that way til the music stops. Then of course they have to find a chair and sit down quick. Then one of the children names a movement activity. And so on until everyone has had a turn to select a movement. We usually end up with lots of frogs, lions, giraffes, fairies, princesses, etc. but it's lots of fun. If the child says something confusing, we say well show us how to do that! Another one you can do is collect an assortment of music styles and tempos. Have the children sit and listen to one and talk about what the music sounds like, ie loud quiet fast slow etc. Then let them get up and move/dance the way they think the music sounds. In 10 or 15 minutes you would probably have time to do maybe 3 different styles, so choose widely contrasting music. I love to use celtic music, classical music, maybe a march, or something loud and fun like the 1812 overture.
