Penn Fierce 8000 spinning reel for surf fishing?

• I'm thinking about getting that reel along with a 10' surf pole for surf fishing in the outer banks specificly rodanthe on the island if cape hatteras. Also what baits to use? And what can u expect to catch in late April early may? Thank you.

  I personally own a Penn Fierce 8000. They are great reels that hold alot of line. I have mine on a 9' rod. I would recommend using braided line to get more line on it, but that's personal preference. Not too sure what you can catch up there...I live in GA. But squid works great for alot of surf fish, and it stays on the hook well. Using shrimp would be good too, however casting a 10' surf rod 200 yards will likely cause the shrimp to come off the hook. Look up NC DNR website and they should have a fishing report. You might get some whiting, or even some sharks in May. For sharks, I suggest some cut bonita or finger mullet.
