How To Make Fake Fan Signs?

As a wrestling fan, are you pessimistic or optimistic? +BQs?

  • I've noticed how people say there was the "Golden Era" of wrestling and how Attitude Era and Ruthless Agression Era were some of the best days of WWE, and not just WWE, but other promotions like ROH and TNA. We hear everyday characters like Stone Cold, The Rock, Mankind etc will never be matched, thus are we implaying we'd rather stay with the "old" rather than focussing on the "new" and the future? Consider fans who ask "When will the Atiitude Era return?". They don't show signs optimism, they don't have faith in the future of the business nor the potential it carries. If this continues, I don't think we will EVER enjoy wrestling as we used to, I think we need to say to ourselves that the future holds the key to betterment of the company, bringing old traditions might make it better, but then again how long will it last? We cherish guys like The Rock, Brock Lesnar and other "past" wrestlers so much that we forget and neglect the current ones. Fast forward to 20 or 30 years I bet less than 50% of the "current" children wrestling fans will forget who Stone Cold is, I bet half don't know right now whose Benoit! So I think its good to preserve the past and keep it alive in the present, but not be engulfed IN the past, as in, aim towards the future. Thus, I'm an optimistic wrestling fan. So are YOU optimistic or a pessimistic and why? Explanations would be helpful. BQ1: When was the last time a wrestler won via a low blow? BQ2: Do you think if AJ Styles were to come to WWE, he's be a maineventer or be considered "TNA Trash" and be sent down to mid carder? BQ3: What is your favourite wrestler quote?

  • Answer:

I'm only pessimistic while watching the WWE and seeing the product dumbed-down for the masses, seemingly written by 9 year olds FOR 9 years olds. It irritates me that so many people believe that the WWE is "the wrestling business". It irritates me that so many people believe that what the WWE does is professional wrestling. "Sports entertainment" is NOT professional wrestling and Vince was correct in removing the world "wrestle" and it's derivatives from the WWE lexicon (the "language" a particular group speaks). It's a bit of a slap in the face that Vince allows the "rebel" CM Punk to use that word on WWE shows to try to recruit professional wrestling fans to give the WWE a chance. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a WWE fan but they need to understand that the WWE ("sports entertainment") is not professional wrestling. It irritates me that the WWE pushes personalities/gimmicks over wrestling skills and trains their audience to believe that "mic skills" are more important than being able to put on a believable wrestling match. The WWE passes off two guys with "mic skills" punching and kicking each other for several minutes as a "wrestling" match, while the guys who CAN wrestle wallow in mediocrity losing to those with "mic skills". That's not professional wrestling. It's bad Hollywood melodrama broken up occasionally by a fist fight. And that's what those damn "dirt sheet" parasites focus on, manufacturing "stories" about that nonsense for "dirt sheet" fans to follow, believing they're getting "inside scoops" on things. I don't have any of that pessimism when watching other promotions. I love watching wrestlers with wrestling skills actually wrestle. I love that other promotions still push the wrestling matches as meaningful toward getting title matches. The "dirt sheets" generally don't bother with them (thankfully) and WWE fans generally don't, either, which means they don't bring their WWE "sports entertainment" (playground) mentality (you know what I mean) into discussions about professional wrestling. The WWE is a formula that's been, uh, "perfected" long ago, and they do not deviate from it. Anybody who has been watching the WWE for a few years can pretty accurately predict what's going to happen (and what will be said) at any given time. There are no surprises anymore in and from the WWE. The other promotions don't follow a set formula and thus haven't pigeonholed themselves at all; they are free to do anything they want. They don't have a "look" that a wrestler must have in order to be pushed; mic skills are secondary at best. And storylines and angles are all over the place with surprises actually surprising their fans. The real creativity lies in the indies, real professional wrestling, not in the formulas set by the WWE and to a lesser extent TNA. Another thing I've been...harping on lately, you touch on as well. Today's WWE fans don't like today's WWE. They are lukewarm at best for the stars the WWE is trying to build and push, and instead pop and "mark out" for stars of previous generations. This proves either A) WWE "creative" does not know how to create interesting and compelling new stars or B) the fans just aren't interested and would rather just watch "old guys" come back. Which makes WWE fans hypocrites because they damn TNA for bringing back "old guys". BQ1: That's fairly common in CMLL. Generally the bad guy gets caught and DQ-ed, making his opponent the winner, but sometimes he does get away with it and wins the match. A couple of weeks ago a bad guy low-blowed CMLL Champ Hector Garza and got away with it to win the match (non-title match). BQ2: He'd be considered "TNA trash" and would job to everybody, especially WWE main eventers with a fraction of Styles' talent and abilities. Had he signed with the WWE several years ago that might not be the case, but he's been the "face of TNA" too long. The WWE would bury him, to "prove" that WWE "sports entertainers" are "better" than TNA "rasslers". BQ3: Currently, it's the way NWA Hollywood's Shaun Ricker ends his promos. "That's not an insult, that's just a fact of life". Ricker is a heel, one of the NWA's best and most promising talents, and that line fits his gimmick.

I'm probably an optimistic wrestling fan, I like the WWE's past history and it's wrestlers, but I'm not living in the past and hoping from all the wrestlers from my favorite WWE Period to return. I'm interested in the WWE's Future. BQ1: I think the last time a wrestler won via a low blow was when Randy Orton gave a low blow to Christian at Money In The Bank, which Disqualified Randy Orton, giving Christian the World Heavyweight Championship. BQ2: No, I think they care much about what a wrestler was doing in the past. Brock Lesnar left the WWE for UFC for tons of years, but when he finally comes back, they let him attack the current face of the WWE, John Cena. But I think that they would have AJ Styles be a mid carder before he started becoming a main eventer. BQ3: I guess ''I'll give you a show like you've never seen before. Why? Because I can.'' - Shawn Michaels

Brogue Kick

Somewhere in between. I like the past but i also like to see the future well. I think they are temporarily bringing back past superstars so that the newer generation can get developed better and have more experience. BQ: Probobaly the last time Ric Flair used it. BQ2: I think he would end up the Miz currently, a high carder that can be in the Main Event at times. BQ3: "I've got the brass, to fire your a**" - Vince McMahon

YOU'RE FIRED!

Optimistic. I am one of the few that has never complaint of this current era, just because none will make nothing and WWE will not change. Besides, people needs to know that WWE was PG before, but it went to TV-14 just to match WCW, which was hot in the moment and they needed an extreme movement to surpass 'em. If WCW wouldn't have existed, Attitude Era would have never happened and WWE would have been PG forever. Yes, I do like the past, have great memories on it, but people needs to accept that times go on and I'm interested in the future personally. BQ1: I don't know if it was either CM Punk winning by DQ from a low blow by John Cena or Christian winning from a low blow by Randy Orton. BQ2: Midcarder just like they did with Christian. BQ3: ''Life sucks, and then you die!'' - Vince McMahon.

I'd like to think i'm optimistic. I know a lot of wrestling fans who constantly bash almost everything the WWE does and threatens to never watch it again but still watch it anyway. I do criticize the WWE when I feel they put on a series of crap Raw's and Smackdown's (the last few months have Smackdown have SUCKED AS$). But Wrestlemania was AMAZING, the Raw after was AWESOOOOOOME and Smackdown was pretty good. I'm a fan of the Attitude Era but I know we'll never have another time like it, the roster right now are talented and entertain me so I'm not complaining xD BQ1: ummmm Christian against Orton at Money in the Bank? I remember he won in controversial fashion, just cant remember how :S BQ2: I dont think WWE would just allow AJ to come in and sort of take over the title picture AT ALL. They'd probably have him come in and feud with a few top wrestlers like Orton, Cena, Jericho, Miz depending on if he came in as a babyface or heel. Eventually, if he shuts his mouth and just works, he'll probably get a title shot or two BQ3: right now it'd have to be YES! YES! YES!

Pessimistic. Fact is fact, things have not gotten better, they have gotten far worse for the image the actual sport of wrestling has. Now it's labeled as entertainment or "fun for the whole family". WWE is a joke. It's a big, fat, stupid joke told to all the naive little kids and the stupid women who wet their pants when Cena's music hits. Even WWE has some redeeming qualities, (Orton, Chris Jericho... that's pretty much it) but they don't make it worth it to watch the entire nightmare of a show. When I watch Raw or Smackdown, all I see is what happened to Cena last week, what happened to Cena earlier in the show, what Cena's doing now, what Cena's going to do later, his terrible promo, his god awful match where he wins but he's not the only problem, oh no. The women are a massive issue. When was the last time WWE showcased REAL female talent that had nothing to do with her being naked? Alicia Foxx, Natalya, Tamina, Beth Phoenix and Kharma AKA Kong and where is she right now? Being a good mom while the rest of the useless Divas stink up the division. Not only are they bad wrestlers, they're even bad on the mic. Each time WWE tries to push one of the women, she's a flop on the mic. Just look at Kelly Smelly. Eve is going to vanish into thin air soon too. The matches between the useless Divas are all about sex appeal, nothing else.I fail to see what's PG about that. If a Diva match is not between any two of the women I mentioned, I have to change the channel. The rest of the women are so pointless and their matches have no effect on anything. Miz was horrible in the ring, remember? He was always outshone by Morrison. He got annihilated by the Big Show in one hit. Now, he's a match for the Big Show just because he has the power of hype behind him?! Then they brought the evil... Zack Ryder. I liked him at one point but he quickly became Cena. He was everywhere and all he wanted to do was be superman, like Cena. There are more talented people in WWE who don't get nearly enough exposure. Remember who Zack Ryder was? He was an Edge clone and that's all he was. He's been pushed and he didn't deserve the massive push that it was. Dolph Ziggler, Brodus Clay, come on! We're over it. It was funny a few times but I'm bored now. Now WWE wants to make the big talent into talkers. So basically, if you aren't good on the mic, you'll lose your spot. Randy Orton hadn't done a promo that wasn't backstage since like, Legacy, but they've made him talk about Kane, twice now I think. Kane's been talking a lot too. Chris Jericho and CM Punk never shut up. Sheamus had to start doing a bunch of promos and he was never much of a talker before. Not that the others aren't trying but I have to say Sheamus, Santino and R-Truth have come off most impressive to me and R-Truth has become a sort of mid carder lately. Santino was always losing but he's still fun to watch. Unfortunately I have lost the channel that airs TNA, so I don't know what they're doing with their talent but WWE buries the good, highlights the loudest voices and force feeds us the crap that results. It's nice to look at the good ol days and I'm SURE to teach my youngest siblings who the best wrestlers are (Benoit, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton) but the future shows no promise. In the past, you could name a lot of greats. Now, there's only a handful who will be remembered in twenty years, especially if you limit yourself to only WWE. BQ1: I think it was on a second rate show... something like Smackdown (lol) and someone pretended to get hit in the nuts even though their balls were barely grazed. BQ2: Oh, it's Christian's return all over again for sure. They would drag him through the dirt. I think the example they hold out to threaten Styles, is what they've done to Evan Bourne's career. BQ: I can't decide between "oh my brother, testify!" and "oh, it's real. It's damn real."
