Which university should I study at in Australia?
-
I am a biology major with a pre-vet concentration from California looking to study abroad for 1 semester at an Australian university and I'm having trouble deciding which one to go to. I really want to be at a school with a relaxed atmosphere, preferably close to the beach and the Great Barrier Reef (I'm about to get my PADI certification), where I can do a lot of outdoorsy activities, and has a good nightlife. I am serious about my studies so I'm looking for a more intellectual school rather than a party school but I understand that partying is a given no matter where you go. I am also a dancer if there happens to be a school that offers dance classes as well. I've been looking into James Cook University, University of Queensland, University of New South Wales, University of Newcastle, University of Sydney, University of Melbourne, University of Adelaide, and University of Tasmania. Any thoughts, suggestions, or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:
You have named a few of the main universities all over Australia, i would begin by focusing on what you mainly would like to get out of the experience. Queensland is known for its beaches so if that is something you are interested in i would definitely recommend looking into a university of queensland however i can't comment on the academic side of the university because i don't know to much about it. However i am from Melbourne and can recommend university of melbourne it is one of the most well known university academically in Australia in particular the field you are studying in. I would personally cross of Tasmania and South Australia (Adelaide)... (but thats just a personal opinion) they are both quite states

Sorry, you'd like to be near the Reef, but are considering the Uni of Tasmania and Adelaide Uni? I'm going to visit America to see some snow, do you thing Florida would be a good place to start? You're a university student, learn how to read a map.
