How to become a foreign exchange student?

I'm 15 years old and i'm wanting to go to Australia as a foreign exchange student. I can't find anything about being a foreign exchange student online I could only find things about being a host family. want to stay there until i'm out of high school and 'm only a freshman if that changes anything.

Hello! I am going to be an exchange student for the year 2014. Here are the basic steps! 1) Research and find a good program to study abroad. ( I recommend AFS! YFU....is OKAY) 2) Go visit and browse their website. 3) Choose your top 3 countries! (AFS does not offer Australia but they offer New Zealand :) YFU offers Australia :) 4) Fill out your application! 5) And your off! For more Info please look at these websites!

You won't go for longer than a year as an "exchange" student. Couple of things: You'd be asking your parents for independence and making your own way. Or you could find a boarding school. For one year, check out Rotary International.
