Yahoo isnt recognizing my old email address and I cant get my contacts transfered. What do I do?

My old email address was sending my contacts nasty and provacative messages. Yahoo would not let me get into my acct so I could change my email address and password. So I had to set up a new email address with a new password. My problem is Im now trying to transfer my contacts from my old email address to my new email address but yahoo dont recognize my old email address so I could do the transfer. Somebody please help me. I need my contacts.
