What does Kitsch mean in Art?

Is ART PURELY SUBJECTIVE? i mean doenst good ART take TALENT and by art i mean all creative ART?

  • Who Decides you say. Well isnt it sort of a recognition. What are the RULE i dont know. But to say it is ALL SUBJECTIVE and it means nothing. Is to say that Michaelangelo and da Vinci are equally as talented as ..............well AS I AM for instance and I dont think that is FAIR. It is like saying that John Coltrane is just as good a sax player as................ANYBODY but we all know this isnt ture PICASSO is not just as good as your kid brother. WHO DECIDES I think it IS a re COGNITION. NOT really a Decision I think there is something to say about TALENT? what do you think. I mean for example I SUCK AS A WRITER. dont I ..............BUt according to the SUBJECTIVE ARGUMENT I really am no WORSE than SHAKESPHERE.............sorry I beg to differ

Hey there, I believe art is purely subjective. I don't buy the article provided above me. I believe many people with no talent have become world famous and I believe people with incredible talent have become world famous. I also believe many people with incredible talent will never be known. There are artisans from past millenniums whose creations now appear in art history books, but they were unknown during their lifetime. I detest the works of Picasso, and yet he is revered as one of the greats. I have found him to be extremely talented, but I suppose many won't. I know an artist who painted a canvas black, added a white dot in the center and called it art - he sold the canvas for $35,000.00 to an idiot who thought it was an original concept. To him, that is art. To me, it's a joke! I myself am an oil painter. I believe my work is quite good, but I am not world famous - at least not yet, lol.
