What are some jobs in the writing field?

What kind of full-time work can I get writing?

• Well, I realized after a few years out of college that I'm in the wrong field. I have always loved writing. I have always been a very strong writer, I just never thought there was a career in it for me, so I pushed it off to the side. But, here I am, in graduate school getting a degree in Professional Writing. I just started not too long ago, but I'm getting worried as I look at jobs online and they all seem to be freelance. Magazines, websites and so-on seem to run without having to pay full-time writers; they just get people to freelance some articles for cheap or for free. So, what kind of jobs exist in writing that are full-time and not dull and boring? Does anyone work in the field? If so, do you have some advice on where to start? Thanks!

  G'day Pgh, Thank you for your question. It depends on what you are looking for but broader writing opportunities include copywriting and political speechwriting. Alternatively, you might want to look at broader fields such as journalism. However, the current economic crisis has probably dried up opportunities in this as in other areas. Regards
