Answer:
Paint something that is important to YOU - it can be something as simple as a small object that is important to you or as complex as a portrait. Art isn't just about the technique it's a form of visual expression - if you care about the subject then it comes through in your artwork.

You could paint simple flowers. Just practice drawing any kinds of flowers that you know how to draw and paint a whole bunch of them in different heights for your art project. Then add grass, a sunshine, clouds and mabye a caterpillar!!!!
just paint a flower thats simple but not too simple. its not that hard. just look at something around the house and paint it. I would paint a really pretty flower, but thats just me. Maybe you are good at painting animals or something. I dont know! Paint something that you know will turn out good but not take you so long.

Try a closeup of a leaf. It's simple, but the veins and designs can be very intricate!

you can try to paint a simple still life of like a teacup and a teapot. or draw an animal that you like in its natural environment. good luck!! :)

Why not do a simple still life with a complementary color scheme? Like orange objects on a blue cloth, red objects on a green cloth, or yellow objects on a purple cloth? Include some reflective surfaces (glass) or shiny things to show you understand value.

Those who say that flowers are easy to draw and to paint have never trie it ! No, you should take either a simple landscape that you like, a sunset, or whatever not too complicated, or otherwise paint a nice jar, vase, etc in context but with nothing in it. But why did you take art to start with ??? I wish you good luck.

simple ehh, flowers, a vase, jewelry, trinkets, scarf in one picture all heck just paint the ocean - go to the beach!
IM NOT THE ONE
There is nothing wrong with abstract art. Why not try a color field painting? The challenge is to balance areas of contrasting and complementary colors into a unified whole. It beats making a picture of an old barn or something ever so cute like kittens. Enough junk art already! All art is abstract in the sense that it abstracts a moment of time and space into a frame. What we see in reality has no frame, and our eyes are never focussed long enough to get the amount of detail in a so-called realist piece of art.
