Humans are strong. We are changing at a rapid rate thanks to technology. The question is, will we grow so strong that we consume everything? The human race will survive, as long as those who have power are responsible and do not nuke the world to hell. We have the powers of the Gods now- the nuclear weapon. Humans are not Gods, and trying to play God is what will result in our demise. Life is in the hands of our leaders now... This is not a good thing.

The function of a data storage center is to store data, it can be electronic data or physical file data. Examples of companies in the U.S. would be Iron Mountain. A data center attached to one of the large universities is approximately 10,000 sq feet. If you are going to do physical paper storage of information that cannot be destroyed but is classified in nature then you will need even larger facilities, money for security clearances to handle the information and money for a security system/personnel to guard the information which is what people pay you to do. With electronic data it will be a huge technology expense to find systems that can hold large amounts of data but also a back up system in case that system fails. Will you use data tapes, or store everything electronically which as an article posted recently says takes up LOADS of power just to keep running and without the design of new efficient computers that don't require a large size to store the data it is a HUGE financial and physical undertaking. If you go to google.com under images you will see tons of flow charts, pictures of buildings and other conceptual designs. Hope this helps.

I think that you asking wrong people about this or you just have a though that you knows or idea that come with. You should talk to people who knows about this and it will help better. Asking us sure not helping becasue your words, thoughs, etc. sure not match us to answer your questions.

search for "Amazon.com jungle disk" and you will see an example of a data storage center in business. It will probably make existing data storage centers obsolete. And if you talk to those people or read papers about its design, that will give you an example of a good data storage center on the cutting edge.

Try asking google. That's their specialty. And I'd say they're one of the best. Anyway, you sound like you're just doing your homework. Try asking whoever gave you that homework some thing like "What type of data will I store?" Or "how much data do we intend to store?" Hell, like some other guy above said, that could be anything from file cabinets to mainframes and databases. Your own PC could be a data storage center. Or even your brains, though I sometimes doubt the reliability and integrity of stored data when stored and processed in something as volatile as the human brain.

You sound like you want to redisgn a super computer or something. Go talk to a large corporation manager. They'll be able to give you some insight as to what your question is and about. They'll mention and tell you what a main frame computer is. As a matter of fact this main frame computer thing still is in existence today, and companies like IBM still use them on a regular basis. But when yo go talk to an owner of a smll business firm, he'll tell you he is using some file cabinets to hold important datum.
