How do we get more donations for a good cause?

How do you feel about people calling your homes, asking you to make donations, and get persist until you do?

  • I believe donating whatever you can to legitmate charities is great, what really makes me furious is when people I've never met call my home and ask for donations, when I say I can't at this time, they get very persistent, such as: "Oh why can't you give, well it's a good cause" Then you tell them you only want to donate once in every 3 months and then they are: "Once in what? Why can't you donate every month" " Well how much do want to give?" So you will give $20.00 every month?" When you say you can't give that much every month, they're like: " Oh you can't give that much? Then how much do want to give every month?" Then they go on about how they need the money so bad because they haven't gotten much. Or when you say you can't give anything because you so many bills, they're like: " What do you mean?" You explain, and they still get persistent such as: "So you can't?" " Why not?" " When you say you have to go, they won't let you off the hook.

  • Answer:

I've had callers that seems to not understand that I'm not interested. Some even call and use my first name and then I'm left with the question- do I know this person? I also get some that really gets angry with me and call ME a ***** if I say I'm not interested for the fifth time. I now put the phone down AFTER saying "I'm not interested. Have a nice day!" *Schmack!*

no matter how many times those fools call i will not donate.... all you have to do is say take me off your list immediately... its against the law for them to continue to call... they just radified this law about 5 years ago....

I just hang up on them. If they keep pestering me I just say "what part of no don't you understand?" Then I slam the phone down on them.

Hang up the phone. They called you, you have the power of disconnect.

I never wait to hear all that... I say "no thank you, have a nice day" and hang up.

The one that calls me the most is the Sheriff's Department, wanting money for, guess what, the Sheriff's Department. I'm like, "Isn't that why we pay taxes?" I generally hang up as soon as they tell me who they are. But I agree. These people are just like me or you, and I doubt they donate, yet they beg us to... It's bogus. Asking for donations over the phone is just retarded! If I want to donate to a cause, I will take it apon myself to do so, for the cause I want, not the one that happens to call me. If they can afford to pay these people to call me (and they have to pay them- otherwise why would they be so persistant) then they can fire those people and use that money for the cause they "believe in", and let me donate on my own time, when I am financially able.

Why do you entertain such calls. That is what "Caller I.D." is for.Even if you do pick up,you say "no,and don't call back" and hang up the phone.

I never let the conversation get that far, I tell them to **** off, never call again, and hang up. If they call back I tell them it is harassment, and they will be charged if they call again, then hang up again. Never had a problem after that.

burnt_crawfish

i just tell them that im all set and hang up the phone.

I'm not against donating money for charities but when it comes to the point that they call you at home and go all blah blah blah on you, it's already annoying.
