Career in International social work.

Trying to build my career in social work or related field. Advice needed.?

  • I am 23 years old and I graduated college this past May. I received my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphases in Art History, Communication, and Women's and Gender Studies. I would like to start chipping away at a career in social work or a related field. I would particularly love to work with new moms, infants, and children. Women and maternal child care is what I find most intriguing. Can anyone give me any suggestions as to where I can start? Where can I volunteer? What can I do? What companies could I apply to work for? Personal experiences and any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!

  • Answer:

There are lots of agencies that focus on women and children. Because you have a degree, you will have a better chance getting a job, even though the degree has little practical application. Homeless shelters need volunteers to help out. That is a good place to start with volunteering and jobs.
