Are there differences in depicting men and women in TV ads?

Are men & women actually not the problem, & it's the poison of negativity from our American culture that?

• ...seperates us? I think it's easy to believe that men and woman just don't click together. That they're too different from each other to truly be happy together. All this battle of the sexes stuff. But I don't think men and women have problems with each other because of their gender. I think it's because we live in a society, a country thats very against male and female relationships. Most heterosexual men and women have been socially trained to be against getting married to each other. Most are against having children with each other. In the media we always see information that is all about divorce, cheating (tiger woods), movies and sitcoms about how bad men and women are with each other, morning and daytime TV and it's talk shows about failing relationships, etc. We live in a country that has nothing positive to say and present about relationships between men and women. My point is, when your raised in that kind of environment, your then raised to already be on guard about the opposite sex, and see them in a negative light. This causes men and women to then willingly and unknowingly continue to add to the problem of gender differences and discrimination. And this only continues to not only warp men and womens preception of how to be with each other, they then continue to get together anyway at some point, not knowing how to actually have a family, and then fight, cheat, break up, divorce, and now the children grows up to continue the cycle of negativity. I pity America because of how bad this is in our culture, because the weaker the relationships between the sexes, the dumber we are in raising our children, which means dumber children, which then means a dumber society. I think the solution is for people to stop blaming the opposite sex for everything, and start trying to better the way society views male and female relationships. And actually build a mentally healthy culture, which people would then be raised with a much more mature and logical outlook on relationships. Thoughts?

  This is actually the most insightful question i've seen in yahoo answers. I believe its the county as well. Its the society, the media, its the way your raised, etc. (basically what you just said.) It sorta reminds me of when I was little, I had so many friends who were boys, but then as I entered kindergarden I felt as if it was "unnatural" or wrong for boys and girls to be friends because we were different, and I felt as if I was forced to only have friends who were girls. I noticed as I went higher into my grades, the kids who still had friends of opposite sexes were often made fun of and criticized. Our culture really makes me think about things.
