  • Answer:

In Malaysia, people has high expectations on their schooling children. They do not want to lose out in every aspects of life. The word to describe that is "kiasu". It derives from one of the Chinese dialect called "Hokkien" (refer website below). Sometimes, children were forced to become what they do not have passion in it e.g. becoming engineer instead of artist. Society tend to look at strainght "As" instead of looking at the talents that a person has.Our public examination is very exam-oriented and it generally encourage creativity. Students are forced to attend tuition classes and this does not give them time for themselves to do what they really want. Another problem is there are rat race in every corner especially in the city. I guess it does not only happen in my country... I am hoping to listen from others from other countries.
