How to be a gentleman?

  • I've recently decided i want to grow up. i am in my twenties, and though all of my friends are out drinking, partying, and most girls are still going for the vain and arrogant guys, I want to differ myself from the pack and become a gentleman. Not a guy that is just nice to girls, because todays bar for defining a gentleman has lowered itself quite a bit, and anyone who holds a door opened once is considered a gentleman. No, i am talking about a real gentleman, who is respectable to women, but also has the rest of the definition in tact. think, james bond, not the shooting, and killing and being a secret agent, but how he carries himself, how he talks, his respect, but at the same time confidence and self awareness, thus not falling into the "guy that is too nice" category, leading to looking weak. now i am not asking advice on how to look strong, or confident, or even relationship advice, i dont need advice on any of that. i am merely describing the difference from the guy trying to be a gentleman and comes off as needy, and the guy who has ettiquette and is just as respectful, but still has his testicles in tact. i am just trying to make sure we have the same definition of a gentleman. think that guy from the most interesting man in the world commercials lol and for some reason one guy that stuck to me is the guy at the end of "letters to juliet" the old man that they spend the whole movie looking for. i dont want to be like movie characters, i am merely reffering to these examples because they are references im sure everyone will know. What are some Ideas on refining myself, new hobbies, dressing, reading, general living basically if you have links to videos it would be greatly appreciated. long question i know, but its hard to define a real gentleman these days, as chivalry seems to be dead and the art of being a gentleman is lost. i apologize is i come off as arrogant, you see i used to be the nice guy, but i was always stepped on, made fun of, bullied, and lonely, i became what i had to in order to get what i want in life, because being nice doesnt get them for you, though it should. and so that is why im here trying to find a balance, because i dont believe guys should be assholes to get the girl, though so far it hs proven true, and i dont believe guys should hide their interest in academics and bettering themselves in order to be accepted socially. though that also has been proven true so far. so if i sound ignorant, im sorry, i just want to know how to be a gentleman, and stop being the typical classless, partyguy asshole

A Career: This doesn't necessarily mean you have to run out to and sign up for classes at Princeton or Cornell, but it does mean you have to find a job you keep for a period of time, and not be job jumping. I've known plenty of gentlemen who made careers out of carpentry, or bartending, and plenty of rogues who had college degrees. 2.
