What do I do now? I can't seem to find a purpose in living my life...?

When I read your question I was surprised to find out you are only 13. You seem so intelligent and aware for your age, but I just dusted off my journal from when I was your age and my thoughts were very similar to yours. I am 29 and all I can offer is my experience. You have SOOO much more to experience, so before you give up on finding the purpose in YOUR life, please remember that experience is very important. Also, everyone's purpose is different, and the only one that can determine yours is YOU. You need to ask yourself some questions: what makes you happy? By that I mean what do you enjoy doing, just because? If you can think of something, keep doing it. If not, ask yourself what haven't you tried yet? It took me so long to be comfortable with myself enough to not care what others thought, and that kept me from trying lots of things. I suggest you try as hard as you can to put yourself out there. Think about this: Your purpose in life currently is to experience life to determine your purpose in the future. I could go on and on but I won't unless you have more specific questions. Don't give up, there are too many awesome things to do with your life :)

Just let life happen, its not always about what you do, and what your job is and whatever.. its about the expierences you have that take you there.. your life will unfold however it is meant to. your too young to bother yourself with all this bullshit.. hah sorry but what you need to do is live your life to the fullest as best you can right now and worry about everything else when it happens.

Yeah... life is pretty much what you summarized in your third paragraph. People find purpose in their jobs, relationships, hobbies, religion, marriages, children and grandchildren. The more well-balanced people aren't as sad, desperate or weird as the ones that go to some extreme, like people who find their purpose by pretending their dog understands them, or people who eat all of the time like they think that food will make them feel better. If you take time in your life to learn by experimenting and making mistakes, and you make efforts to know yourself, and improve yourself by facing personal goals and challenges, then you'll die happier than most. One of the biggest challenges you may ever face is having a relationship with God. It usually seems that we try harder at it than he does.

Helping others gives meaning to our lives. Get out there and volunteer for a cause you believe in. You will change the lives of others as well as your own. There are people who need you.

It is totally up to you to make life as deep as you would like it to be. Steven Hawkins has to race against time as it is never deep enough to satiate h is curiousity. I know people who aer in their eighties with a zest for life that will never extinguish.... I know 13 year olds who have given up..... you are in charge. You are the captain of your own destiny. Take charge, take command.

Well, I'll assume you're in the eighth grade right now. A good way to find purpose in life is to live for something else. Charity and non-profit organizations are good ways to feel needed and to have a purpose. You can also find a lot of friends and meet girls that way. You can also join another club or sport. If you have a friend who's having a hard time in life whether at school or at home, you can focus on helping them out and being there for them. Hope I helped.

without getting into religion , how about friends and good times , good feelings , having fun , hobbies , you can still have faith , god and all the other good things in life , hope is for us dreamers and doers , i have faith and hope , im 35 , i know where you are coming from

You're young but congrats, you've discovered the very truth about life. And yes, it's not really deep enough. And honestly, there's nothing you can do about it. I'm 18 and I've also wondered if life really has any meaning or not. The thing is, try to do something for people who need help. It really makes you feel good and it seems there's some purpose.

I'm 14, and have felt the same way. God is in my life also, but it was hard to feel Him there. I didn't know if I wasn't listening hard enough, or what. Life is meant to be lived for God, and the way that he wanted us to live. Yes, get an education, job, and be successful. Have fun, but do everything you do in His name and for Him. You will definately find it rewarding! :]
