Can physiological changes in the brain be observed as a function of learning/memorizing?

I want to know if it is possible to detect whether any physical change has occurred in the brain as a result of learning. Like, do neurons move and connect with different neurons?

Yes, these are some changes that can be observed: 1) There are more dendrites and synapses on the neurons. 2) There are more AMPA receptors on the neurons (and they may be more efficient). 3) One also shouldn't forget the weakening connections as well, they are important too (read about LTD - long term depression).
