Is it difficult to get a job, if you are an economist?

What job would I get as an Economist?

  • I'm planning to study economics @ uni.. but I was wondering, what kind of job would I be offered?

    I have a friend who majored in Economics and I am sad to report that he works for an advertising company. That said, if you major in Economics you will either work for an advertisement company or the old fall back of fast food worker. Also, you would most likely be able to get a job as a Waffle House manager but you may need ot work your way up by starting as a waiter or cook. Waffle House managers get paid 40k a year! Not too shabby for an Economics major! Good luck.

you can work in any of the following feilds but specializing in economics as a major. Accounting Art Business/Marketing Chemistry Computer Programming Economics Elementary Teacher Ed. Engineering Finance Foreign Languages History Philosophy Psychology Sociology In all honesty you can do anything. People always need economists in their companys as we will always have economies around.

With the government, private companies, banks, advertising firms, consultancy agencies.. actually a degree in economies is very versatile

You'd need to at least get a master's degree. Most large companies employ economists so that they can predict the ups and downs in the world economy and plan accordingly.

I guess you be one of those people that pop up on TV saying things like "This will mostly affect low to middle income people".
