What is the distributional sector?

What exactly is the "Private Sector"? Which jobs are private sector jobs?

  • I constantly hear Republicans talking about the private sector but I don't know exactly what it is. Is it corporations?

  • Answer:

the "private sector" is the area of industry owned by private owners as apposed to the government. Hospitals (NHS), police forces, schools, civil servants etc. are all not in the private sector, whereas construction companies, manufacturing and anything on the stock market (doesn't have to be on the stock market), with private owners (i.e. not government/state owned) is the "private sector".

most jobs not involved with the government, but the government is so large these days pretty much everything is involved in the government in some way or another

hey its me

people failed to mention all the little private sector as well. landscaper. maid service, C- store, painter, handyman, all jobs that is not funded by tax payers. Private sector jobs are really the only jobs that count when looking at a sustainable economy. All government jobs are a drag & liability paid for by the tax payers. The wealth of the country is built from the private sector, then the government takes part of that wealth to pay for government jobs. 99% of gov jobs produce nothing and are 100% liabilities. They are 2 opposite things. And as the private sector jobs have lost in huge numbers, at the same time the number of gov employees has grow at a enormous rate. Do you see how this trend could help bankrupt the country? Fewer and fewer tax paying private jobs to support more and more unproductive government jobs. Don't get confused and think that gov workers pay taxes too. That is true, But they pay their taxes with money that came from taxes that the private sector paid to the gov. then it was paid to the gov worker and they use that to pay their taxes. So as you can see the private sector job is the only job that produces wealth for our country. It is what is called value added products that create wealth. Such as mine iron ore, make metal with it, sell the metal. It is used to make products like cars, buildings, fences, etc. (value added) then taxed at each level. Then the government gets taxes from all this private sector activity and spends it on sevices and payroll for gov jobs that produce nothing 99% of the time.So to make a extreme example try to imagine if all jobs were gov jobs. How would wealth be created ? And right now the governments are the largest employer and getting bigger all the time.

The private sector refers to businesses and individuals, anything that is not associated with the government.

Private Sector jobs are jobs which the government does not own or control. These jobs include entrepreneurial jobs, sole proprietorship, partnerships, it does NOT include corporations though.
