What keeps water out of our head?

  • when we swim and stuff and also take a shower when a lot of water comes in my ear what keeps it from coming into the head like is there something in the ear that blocks the water from entering our brain and heads and you know how water sometimes get stuck in our head after swimming and you don't bother to try and shake it out of your head, will the water be absorbed by the body. I know weird question but I'll give the best answer to someone who actually answers this.

  • Answer:

The tympanum (eardrum) is actually a physical barrier between the outer and inner ear, but that's not the only thing keeping your brain dry. The ear is actualy a rather convoluted tube, and to get very far in, water would have to travel in several directions. Which is why it can be so hard to get out once it's in there. Earwax also helps keep unwanted moisture out.
