Human Evolution: The Missing Link?
-
Modern scientists have been searching for the missing link between humans and apes. This originates from Charles Darwins theory of Human Evolution (the idea of humans evolving from apes). On sky news rather recently they presented what they thought was the missing link. A 47 million year old fossil of a primate creature with a large tail..?? this made no sense to me. If the Darwin theory was true then surely there would be a link alive today. There is a clear distinction between humans and apes now a days so where is the link alive today???

Answer:
OK once more. 1. A band of apes did not suddenly start birthing humans. Neither did they start birthing the 'missing link" and in the next generation the missing link started birthing humans. 2. The "Missing link" is beloved by creationists and the press. The former as they always wanted the fable to be 'proven" and the latter as it sells papers. 3. The known human lineage is: Ardipithicus ramidus 5 to 4 million years ago Australopithecus anamensis 4.2 to 3.9 million years ago Australopithecus afarensis 4 to 2.7 million years ago Australopithecus africanus 3 to 2 million years ago Australopithecus robustus 2.2 to 1.6 million years ago Homo habilis 2.2 to 1.6 million years ago Homo erectus 2.0 to 0.4 million years ago Homo sapiens archaic 400 to 200 thousand years ago Homo sapiens neandertalensis 200 to 30 thousand years ago Homo sapiens sapiens 200 thousand years ago to present Is there really anyplace to shoehorn in a "Half man, Half ape that rampages through the modern city..." sorry started to channel a grade B move there. So 1. Modern scientists aren't looking for a "missing link." Early members of the human lineage but not something that is a step between a chimp and a modern human. 2. Creationists love the 'missing link" as they will demand a missing link between each hominid species. 3. The press loves the 'missing link" as any new discovery can be called that. Otherwise, the normal press release is just boring. 3. 90% of all species that have lived on the planet have gone extinct."there would be a link alive today" is illogical. 4. The "clear distinction between humans and apes now a days" is due to our 6-8 million years of independent evolution. Don't look at today's apes and think they haven't changed. You asking that an imaginary being from 6-8 million years ago be alive today. Why should it?

Things broadcast as news, such as the discovery of "Eve", or the "missing link", are not generally accepted by the scientific community. The media is not in the business of scientific inquiry, their interest is in 'selling papers'. Evolution theory is that man and apes had a common ancestor. Who knows? A pot takes many shapes on the wheel before the potter is finished.

Actually, a species has 1-2 millions years on earth, roughly. Evolution didn't happen overnight, it took humans over 300 million years to morph into what we are today. I think there is a clear distinction between humans and apes, but if you look at the genealogical, physical, mental aspects, it's quite different.

by all the theories of evolution, one species develops over time into another species, As an illustration, imagine a population dependent on a specific trees fruit for survival. For some unknown reason the trees begin to grow taller and only the tallest of the population can reach most of the fruit. The tallest in that population will tend to live longer and produce more children, who will also be taller. Over time, more and more of the population will be the talls and fewer and fewer will be the shorts. Eventually the population will consist only of the talls, because that is what the natural environment requires to survive. This new trait combined with other new traits that develop to enable the population to better match their environment will eventually be a totally different species than existed before. In this was nature developes a new species while the old species becomes extict. I do hope this helps you.

I don't think any primates lived 47mya... Humans are apes just like chimpanzees and gorillas, believe it or not. Apes don't have tails, monkeys do. That's a main difference between the two but we're all primates. Charles Darwin didn't actually create the "human evolution" "theory", and its no longer a theory since its been proven by a myriad of data and fossils.

there are plenty of fossils of intermediate stages of evolution. There was no tail on early humans, just as there is none on gorillas and chimpanzee's today. According to Darwin theory, the intermediate species would be extinct b/c superior species would kill them and eat their food.

We are Alien Hybrids. The aliens used ape genetics to complete the transfer from their own. Evolution is not the whole story, its only a part of our past but indeed, we were created.
